Tropentag...and what lies ahead.

A look at Tropentag 2023

The recently concluded Tropentag Conference event held in Berlin was attended by our esteemed project partners from CSCP and here is a summary of what occurred. Kartika Anggraeni, Dr Adriana Ballón Ossio and Joshua Aseto gave a poster presentation to exhibition visitors about our project's aim to tackle the issue of ever-increasing invasive bush species affecting Southern Africa and how we aim to add value to this bush biomass by converting it into a clean-burning solid biofuel using the novel superheated steam (SHS) technology. CSCP leads the effort to uncover prospective and sustainable business models integral to our commercialisation strategy. They also engaged fellow field experts on issues pertaining to the different value chain approach methods, as well as the water-energy-food nexus on a broader scale.

Bio360 Expo invitation

Shifting the focus to another intriguing point, our project lead, Huw Parry, has been invited to speak at the upcoming Bio360 expo to be held in Nantes, France from 24 - 25 January 2024. Here, he will similarly share the message of SteamBioAfrica and what we are working to achieve. This prestigious international convention brings together the Bioenergy and bioeconomy communities with a shared mission to expedite the transition from a fossil-fueled economy to a renewable, circular economy, marking the journey toward a bio-based future.

Over 200 speakers and 450 exhibiting companies will be present, complemented by the expected attendance of around 5000 people. Moreover, the entire expo will be conducted in a hybrid format allowing for live streaming for online participants.

We thank the organisers of this event and wish Huw a pleasant experience in France. More stakeholder engagement events are planned for 2024 and will be communicated to our supporters. Should you wish to read up further on the expo, do visit https://www.bio360expo.com/lang/en
