As we advance toward the end of our project's lifecycle, our partner representatives of the fifteen institutions were this week gathered in the serene city of Seville, Spain; for our bi-annual consortium meeting. Held as a hybrid event, the venue was the Casa de la Ciencia in the heart of the city and invited online attendees were also virtually present to give their inputs. Meeting Day 1
The first day of the meeting commenced with an overview of ICT systems, followed by subsequent sessions which delved into various work packages, covering management, ethics, logistics, ecosystem services, market assessment, value chain development, and life cycle studies. Valuable insights into the current progress and future direction were tabled here. Meeting Day 2
On the second day, the agenda continued with detailed discussions on plant operation, process optimisation, commercial manufacturing pathways, and project impact. Important topics such as upcoming reviews, and gender workshops were also addressed, ensuring that all aspects of the project were thoroughly examined. Beyond the meeting, participants also had the opportunity to explore the rich cultural heritage of Seville, including visits to landmarks such as Plaza España, the Torre del Oro, and the Alcazar. With the next meeting and Biomass Fair scheduled for August 2024 in Namibia, the team members are eager to continue their efforts and drive meaningful progress in the field of biomass research and sustainable bush utilisation, among the three targeted Southern African countries. Below are some photos of the team during their stay in Sevilla.
