The supporting steelwork structure for the main biomass processing unit, is nearing completion at the Cheetah Conservation Fund's Biomass Technology Centre, near Otjiwarongo, Namibia. The novel superheated steam torrefaction technology to be installed will convert raw woodchips from encroacher and other invasive biomass into torrefied solid biofuel, clean water and biochemical condensate. The primary solid biofuel product will be targeted towards industry as a cost effective and renewable coal replacement, as well as clean burning consumer fuel alternative to firewood and charcoal. Plant operations at the site are expected to commence during the first half of 2023.
